This Is My Year 2014

YEAR 2014 - Year of the Green Wooden Horse.

According to the Chinese horoscope, horse provides a good and quick transportation for people before automobiles. Horse can give people a ride to their destination. Thus making horse not only a symbol of traveling, but a sign of speedy success. It is also the strongest animal of all the 12 zodiac, a sign of warfare which implies hot temper and less patient.

Nevertheless, if you're a believer of those or not whatever happens to us is usually the result of the decisions and choices we make. Well, in my case I seem to be associated with the luck and bad luck of this year.

I had a decent job with good people around me by the start of this year. But then, I was afraid I'd be comfortable with the setup thinking I'd be doing the stuff I am doing now for maybe a lifetime? Oh my goodness.

To cut the very long story short, here's a summary of my 2014:

BAD LUCK?!

-  I resigned from my job and hop from one employer to the other. And yeah, I got FOUR goddamn employers in one year!

-  I had a major breakup of the year. A 8-year long relationship just got messed up in a matter of hours? Unfortunate.

- Moved to an apartment to fetch my sick father and save myself from misery.

- Empty all my savings account and investments and worse lapse my insurance.

- Tied up to debts! Whoa.

It's Just Me Until I Found You

There was this time of our life where we utterly feel hopeless..about life, about love. We tend to get weak trying to overcome the struggles we are facing. It seems to me that life is a battle. He who survives, wins. He who can stand up against anything - criticism, degradation, rejection, insults, pressure and all the negativities in life are the victors.

We live to survive...in all ways possible. I, in the same way, live in accordance to this belief. I can't be any different from any normal person. This thought is killing me so that's why I wanted to break it. I wanted to be different, in ways I am. I'm a wanderer of life, religion and people. I only have one life, I only have one chance to know the things I wanted to know, so I should not waste it. I wanna give it a try.

In my 26 years of being alive, what did I get? Not answers at all..but I get to know myself. Realization is what struck me. In all honesty, I hate myself. I hate what I have done. I become someone whom I dislike. But I did try to protect myself, shelter myself just to meet the standards of the society of becoming a "good" person. Unfortunately, things doesn't always go our way.

A Message To My Future Husband

Dear Future Husband,

I am not yet certain who you are. But I want you know that I want us to get married before I turn 30. Please forgive me for being such a crappy woman in the past. I am not perfect, I made mistakes. I made mistakes a lot. I made decisions considering the right path but I always end up screwing it. Despite those mistakes, I still consider myself a successful woman. I have never lost track of my priorities and the real world. Although, sometimes I have survived it the hard way.

Please criticize me for my lousiness, I'd appreciate it a lot. I wish you can counter my ideology, beliefs, opinion and intelligently-drafted wanna be ideas. That's just me. Prove to me I'm wrong thru my ways because I usually insist in reasoning.

My colleagues say that I am a strong person, hmmn, I am not sure about it but maybe I am. But you have to be stronger than I am.

Professionally, I am stable. So you don't have to worry about the financial aspect of our family. I'm sure to help.

I pray that we will have a peaceful yet lively family.

Love,
yami

X-Factor Israel Grand Winner Rose Fostanes - Pride of the Philippines!

Rose "Osang" Fostanes, won The X-Factor Israel last January 14, 2014 (Wednesday morning in Manila) at the Nokia Arena Tel Aviv, Israel.

The Filipina caregiver performed the famous Frank Sinatra's My Way [watch video]. She defeated 3 other contestants during that night.

The 47-year old X-Factor Israel winner has been working as caregiver for almost 20 years.

At first her family was against her joining the competition thinking she might get embarrassed and degraded because she's not that beautiful and attractive. But that didn't stop her from joining.

In one of the early audition episodes of the show, she said "I feel that everybody is looking at me like I was an alien, a Filipina working here, cleaning houses."

After she has been announced a winner, she said, "I think I will be a leader for them because of what I did and I think also they will be proud of me. Everybody in the world will know that Filipinos, even working as a cleaner... can also share their talents."

Osang is ended another pride of the Philippines and an inspiration to her fellow countrymen. Her story is yet another great story to tell.

"All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them."

Indeed, we should never stop dreaming.

Quote from Bob Marley

Very inspiring..

Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you.

When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement. They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself. Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful. There is never any pressure, jealousy or competition but only a quiet calmness when they are around. You can be yourself and not worry about what they will think of you because they love you for who you are.

The things that seem insignificant to most people such as a note, song or walk become invaluable treasures kept safe in your heart to cherish forever. Memories of your childhood come back and are so clear and vivid it’s like being young again. Colours seem brighter and more brilliant. Laughter seems part of daily life where before it was infrequent or didn’t exist at all. A phone call or two during the day helps to get you through a long day’s work and always brings a smile to your face.

In their presence, there’s no need for continuous conversation, but you find you’re quite content in just having them nearby. Things that never interested you before become fascinating because you know they are important to this person who is so special to you. You think of this person on every occasion and in everything you do. Simple things bring them to mind like a pale blue sky, gentle wind or even a storm cloud on the horizon. You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible. You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you.

You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end. Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. Your only hope and security is in knowing that they are a part of your life.

-Bob Marley

Love is a Fallacy by Max Shulman

Cool was I and logical. Keen, calculating, perspicacious, acute and astute—I was all of these. My brain was as powerful as a dynamo, precise as a chemist’s scales, as penetrating as a scalpel. And—think of it!—I'm only eighteen.

It is not often that one so young has such a giant intellect. Take, for example, Petey Bellows, my roommate at the university. Same age, same background, but dumb as an ox. A nice enough fellow, you understand, but nothing upstairs. Emotional type. Unstable. Impressionable. Worst of all, a faddist. Fads, I submit, are the very negation of reason. To be swept up in every new craze that comes along, to surrender oneself to idiocy just because everybody else is doing it—this, to me, is the acme of mindlessness. Not, however, to Petey.

One afternoon I found Petey lying on his bed with an expression of such distress on his face that I immediately diagnosed appendicitis. “Don’t move,” I said, “Don’t take a laxative. I’ll get a doctor.”
“Raccoon,” he mumbled thickly.
“Raccoon?” I said, pausing in my flight.
“I want a raccoon coat,” he wailed.
I perceived that his trouble was not physical, but mental. “Why do you want a raccoon coat?”
“I should have known it,” he cried, pounding his temples. “I should have known they’d come back when the Charleston came back. Like a fool I spent all my money for textbooks, and now I can’t get a raccoon coat.”
“Can you mean,” I said incredulously, “that people are actually wearing raccoon coats again?”
“All the Big Men on Campus are wearing them. Where’ve you been?”
“In the library,” I said, naming a place not frequented by Big Men on Campus.
He leaped from the bed and paced the room. “I’ve got to have a raccoon coat,” he said passionately. “I’ve got to!”
“Petey, why? Look at it rationally. Raccoon coats are unsanitary. They shed. They smell bad. They weigh too much. They’re unsightly. They—”
“You don’t understand,” he interrupted impatiently. “It’s the thing to do. Don’t you want to be in the swim?”
“No,” I said truthfully.
“Well, I do,” he declared. “I’d give anything for a raccoon coat. Anything!”
My brain, that precision instrument, slipped into high gear. “Anything?” I asked, looking at him narrowly.
“Anything,” he affirmed in ringing tones.

I stroked my chin thoughtfully. It so happened that I knew where to get my hands on a raccoon coat. My father had had one in his undergraduate days; it lay now in a trunk in the attic back home. It also happened that Petey had something I wanted. He didn’t have it exactly, but at least he had first rights on it. I refer to his girl, Polly Espy.

I had long coveted Polly Espy. Let me emphasize that my desire for this young woman was not emotional in nature. She was, to be sure, a girl who excited the emotions, but I was not one to let my heart rule my head. I wanted Polly for a shrewdly calculated, entirely cerebral reason.
I was a freshman in law school. In a few years I would be out in practice. I was well aware of the importance of the right kind of wife in furthering a lawyer’s career. The successful lawyers I had observed were, almost without exception, married to beautiful, gracious, intelligent women. With one omission, Polly fitted these specifications perfectly.
Beautiful she was. She was not yet of pin-up proportions, but I felt that time would supply the lack. She already had the makings.

Gracious she was. By gracious I mean full of graces. She had an erectness of carriage, an ease of bearing, a poise that clearly indicated the best of breeding. At table her manners were exquisite. I had seen her at the Kozy Kampus Korner eating the specialty of the house—a sandwich that contained scraps of pot roast, gravy, chopped nuts, and a dipper of sauerkraut—without even getting her fingers moist.

Never give up

She inspires me....

This life is what you make it. No matter what, you're going to mess up sometimes, it's a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you're going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends - they'll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you through everything - they're your true best friends. Don't let go of them.

Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they'll come and go too. And baby, I hate to say it, most of them - actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can't give up because if you give up, you'll never find your soulmate. You'll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything.

Just because you fail once, doesn't mean you're gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don't, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life's a beautiful thing and there's so much to smile about.
